This is so bad in the audio/production industry. “Sound guys”, “lighting guys”, “IT guys”, etc. Over the last couple years I’ve made a concerted effort to expunge that stuff from my vocabulary. Guess what! It’s really not hard! xaprb.com/blog/you-guys/

“Y’all” is a wonderful word filling an important gap in English. “Folks” and “people” are also great options depending on the context.

It’s also shocking to me how many older engineers refer to inanimate objects like microphones and receivers as guys and give them male pronouns. “This guy sends a signal to that guy, then he acknowledges it over the network.” Wut? It would never even occur to me to say that.
