alexleavitt Silent letters and letters making sounds that are far from “normal” probably make for more interesting examples. I bet most people don’t even notice that the f in ‘of’ is voiced and ‘if’ is unvoiced. It’s like the /th/ in “these” and “things” (/ð/ vs /θ/)
