iPhone 12 still • Has a notch • Has a camera bump • Is still physically larger than the original SE Unimpressed. Noleli/1040224165217886209

“Prior 2016 iPhone SE owner Klasma said that the iPhone 12 mini is both heavier and larger than expected and not as ”handy“ as the SE when it comes to chassis size.” Yeah. Because it’s bigger. 5.4” > 4”. #SE4life macrumors.com/2020/11/13/iphone-12-mini-pro-max-first-impressions/

*mini. This tweet is about the mini.

A few people have asked me whether the new iPhone 12 mini satisfies me size-wise. The size is close. Still bigger than the 5/5S/original SE, but close. But size isn’t the only thing that matters.

The notch. It’s is an idiotic work-around. Just make the screen the appropriate rectangular size for the chassis, even if it means leaving room for sensors outside the screen. Ugly, barely useable pixels in order to satisfy a marketing requirement of diagonal screen size.

The camera bump. Why would I want a phone that doesn’t sit flat on a table? If you need an extra half mm or whatever for fancy optics, just make the whole phone that much thicker. Fill it with more battery. I don’t want a phone to rock back and forth on a table.

In the scheme of things, none of this matters. Nothing matters. I’m angry and stressed. הכל הבל. Vote.
