EurekaFoong I’m a tools-focused person, so my answer is about tools. Video: the best camera you have is probably on the back of your phone. Use reincubate Camo Lighting: make sure it’s good. I use a desk lamp with 3 layers of wax paper to defuse.

EurekaFoong Sound: use an external mic if you can. Your computer has fan noise. Closer to your face = better signal-to-noise ratio. My employers makes several good options ;)

EurekaFoong Putting it all together: use a proper editor so you can do things like superimpose your video over your slides or screencast, make call-outs, etc. Ruthlessly edit out dead time, mistakes, and filler words. I use ScreenFlow.

EurekaFoong Finally, budget enough time. Once you’ve put your talk together, assume about an hour per minute of actual work for production. 5 minutes → 5 hours, which means 2–3 calendar days.
