Panel discussion called “Why Privacy Matters”. Lawyers, corporate privacy officers, regulators, and @realtomhayden representing tech. For 3/4 of the panel, privacy matters because compliance. Something that kept coming up, though, is that people (aka consumers aka end users) need more awareness, they need to care more, and they need meaningful choice. While network effects make an impossibly high barrier to entry in social networks, there are options in other markets.Permalink On twitter.com
