        I would love to see a series of TV ads. High production value and cinematic, aimed at expressing American values. They should be idealized and romanticized, not political, and not too moralizing.

      A 60-second spot about freedom of speech. One about freedom of religion. One about being a nation of immigrants. It could even evoke the problematic “melting pot”. (Better than nothing.) One about being one national community. One about the rule of law (in not so many words).

    I hate nationalism as much as the next person (well, more, tbh), but this is the audience we need to reach. There are things worth loving about America, and it’s not being white or Christian or being able to have big guns.

        Talk about the Pilgrims coming to American in search of religious liberty. Talk about the first Thanksgiving, where the people already living here helped out the newcomers. Doesn’t matter if it’s all BS. It’s a mythology we need right now.
