TIL demiromanticism. Thanks, EssieHabibi! When I say I don’t understand the *concept* of dating, I get some confused looks. What I mean is: meeting someone for a few hours at a time over the course of a few weeks to assess mutual romantic compatibility doesn’t work for me.

All of my relationships have been with people I was friends with first, usually for at least a year. This gives me a word for that 🎉

Interestingly, it’s often considered part of the ace spectrum, but that doesn’t describe me. Just because I don’t want (at an emotional level) physical intimacy outside of a committed relationship doesn’t mean I don’t feel attraction; acting on it is just unappealing.
